Chase Total Checking $200 Bonus 2022

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card currently has an offer for 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

Redeeming the 60,000 bonus points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards program, which is praised by users, will get you $750 in value towards travel. The 60K bonus points are worth $750 because you get 25% more value whenever you redeem for airfare, hotels, car rentals and cruises through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

Even better, strategize with Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer partners to potentially get even more value. Each point can be worth up to 2 cents apiece (60k points = ~$1,200). Read more on this here.

What Credit Cards Can I Refer?

You can only refer the specific Chase credit card you have in your wallet. So if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you can refer that credit card (if the card had a referral bonus available).

The only exception to this rule are Southwest credit cards. For example, if you hold a Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, you can refer a Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card (if the Priority card has a referral bonus available).

Referral bonuses are also not available for every Chase card. The list of eligible cards changes from time to time. You’ll have to regularly check to see if your card qualifies for a referral bonus.

Here’s a list of Chase cards that have had referral offers before:

How Much Can I Earn?

There’s no limit to how many referrals you can send, but you can only earn a limited number of referral bonuses per year.

People have complained that it takes quite some time for referral bonuses to post. In general, they should appear in your account with the second billing cycle after card approval.

How Do I Refer A Friend?

Follow the simple steps below to refer your friends and earn bonus rewards:

  1. Go to the Chase Refer-A-Friend site and enter your last name, zip code and last 4 digits of your credit card number.
  2. See if there’s a referral offer for your credit card. Be sure to check often because referral promotions change from time to time.
  3. Share your referral link by copying and sharing it wherever or directly from the site via email, Facebook or Twitter.
  4. Wait for your friends to apply and get approved.

You can also refer your friends via the Chase mobile app. Log in, and you’ll find a list of your active Chase cards. Tap on the three dots in the lower right corner next to the card you want to refer, then tap on “Refer friends.” This option will only be available if the card is eligible for referral bonuses.

Tips & Tricks

Avoid email referrals. If you choose to send your referral link via email from the Chase site, it can take up to 7 days for the referral email to send. Instead, copy your link and send the email yourself.

Chase 5/24 rule. Chase won’t approve your friend’s application if they’ve signed up for more than five cards from any bank in the last 24 months. Make sure your friend is aware of this.

Sign-up bonus. Don’t forget to mention to your friend about any sign-up bonuses for the card they’re applying for. Not only will you be rewarded, they will too (if they meet the requirements)!

Authorized users. You’ll receive a bonus for referring authorized users on your card for their own card. Plus, your authorized users will also receive the card’s sign-up bonus (if they meet the requirements).

Taxes. If Chase sends you a 1099 for referral bonuses, you’ll be responsible for paying taxes on the points you receive. We recommend contacting a tax professional if this is the case.

Bottom Line

The Chase credit card refer-a-friend program is a great way to earn bonus points or miles without having to spend a penny. If you have family or friends who are looking for a new credit card, consider referring them to Chase. Inviting them takes just a minute or two, and you’ll get rewarded handsomely.
