College Football 25 sold a staggering number of $100 copies

College Football 25 boasted nearly three million players in its early access period alone, Electronic Arts announced today.

EA said CFB 25 sold 2.2 million copies of its $100 Deluxe Edition, which included three days of early access before its full release today. That’s a bunch of money and a bunch of eager gamers, with an additional 600,000 players jumping in as part of EA Play’s 10-hour trial.

CFB 25 was so tremendously popular on its early access launch, in fact, that the servers got fully slammed and overloaded with players, creating issues for many trying to access it. The problems were quickly solved, though, and enjoyment was had by all once they got online for some pigskin pleasure.

“From the moment we decided to make College Football 25, the passionate college football fans out there were our team’s north star,” said Daryl Holt, SVP and group GM of EA Sports. “This game is for the fans, and the response we’ve seen from across the collegiate landscape, athletes, creators, celebrities and the core community has been nothing short of spectacular.”

Whether you’re playing the Dynasty Mode as a coach and head of a college program or the Road to Glory mode as a created player, it seems like everyone’s playing CFB 25 this week, with clips going viral on social media several times. And now, all players have access to it starting today, so it could get even bigger.

“Every team is someone’s favorite, and College Football 25 is a testament to the passion and dedication of our developers to build the most authentic college football experience possible for our fans,” Holt said. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome millions more into the game with today’s launch.”

College Football 25 is out now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
