The Witcher 4 (codenamed Polaris) will feature Geralt of Rivia in at least some capacity, according to voice actor Doug Cockle—but he won’t be the main focus of the sequel.
This came from an Aug. 10 YouTube video on the Fall Damage channel. As the conversation veered to the next Witcher game, the voice actor revealed, “Geralt will be a part of the game. We just don’t know how much, and the game won’t focus on Geralt, so it’s not about him this time.”
Although Cockle prefaced this with the usual “I can’t say anything about it,” the crucial piece of info about Geralt’s appearance in The Witcher 4 will make fans ecstatic.
CD Projekt Red previously said Blood and Wine, the second and last expansion to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, was the farewell letter to Geralt. So, until Cockle’s leak, fans were pretty much in the dark about whether they would see him in games again. Now that the cat is out of the bag, we can only wonder what kind of cat it will be.
“I’m excited to find out,” Cockle added. “I wanna know! I have not seen any script yet—I couldn’t tell you if I did, that’s the thing, so I could be lying through my teeth, but I’m not… or am I?”
We found through CDPR’s last earnings call in May earlier this year that the lion’s share of the company’s developers are working on The Witcher 4. Other than its single logo, however, we haven’t heard anything concrete about the game from the official channels yet.
