The new Fortnite season is full steam ahead toward its Marvel-themed release this weekend—and Epic Games is teasing some of what’s to come.
In a new post on Twitter/X today, Epic posted an overhead view of Fortnite Chapter Five, season four’s map, obscured by some sort of green fog covering the northernmost and southwestern areas of the island that players have been doing battle on since last December.
According to leakers, the mystery behind the green fog has already been solved. The two northern POIs, Lavish Lair and Classy Courts, will reportedly be replaced by a Dr. Doom-themed area, such as Doom’s castle or his homeland of Latveria.
The southwestern POI of Pleasant Piazza, meanwhile, will be replaced by the Raft, which could hold a big hint toward some fun happenings this season. The Raft is a massive floating prison in the Marvel universe, and it’s consistently filled with the biggest and most evil villains.
The new season was finally revealed this past weekend at Disney’s D23 showcase. It’s called Absolute Doom and features Dr. Doom and several Marvel heroes and villains, such as Gwenpool, War Machine, Mysterio, and more. There’s also a bunch of Marvel-themed Mythic items like Iron Man’s gauntlets, Dr. Doom’s powers, and others, so the whole season is sure to be filled with a bunch of Marvel goodness.
Could Dr. Doom’s plan be to cause a breakout at the Raft, filling the island with all sorts of villains from Marvel, Fortnite, and other collabs? And will this cause the arrival of the previously data-mined Fantastic Four, who have yet to be shown in any promo material for the new season?
The Fortnite gamer in me is almost as excited as the Marvel fan, ready for these two worlds to collide once again when the new season kicks off this Friday, Aug. 16
