Working at The Bathhouse with free accommodation, a creepy Landlord, and a demon haunting you while you bathe can only end one way, but does it always have to end in bloodshed and sacrifice for Maina?

How to unlock all endings in Chilla’s Art: The Bathhouse Restored
The Bathhouse Restored Edition has three endings. Unlike other video games, Chilla’s Art games usually point you towards any unachieved endings you may have missed, often with items or dialogue options that only open upon completing the previous ending. You can then use this newly found item or dialogue choice to unlock a new ending.
In the case of The Bathhouse, you cannot achieve the good ending without first finding the bad. So, here’s our rundown on how to get all endings in The Bathhouse.
Erena’s sacrifice ending (Bad)
The first ending is achieved by playing through the game as you normally would. This doesn’t require picking up any secret item or picking a particular dialogue line. Instead, you will reach the point of the game where you must outlive the Ubume’s attacks in the bathhouse, only to be sacrificed at the end of the game by the Landlord.
Toru’s sacrifice ending
The second ending can only be unlocked by playing through the game and achieving the bad ending (where Maina is sacrificed). Learning that the protagonist’s true identity is Erena (Yoko’s daughter and Toru’s sister), you can tell Toru when he asks for your name towards the end of the game. When you do, Toru tells you to go to apartment 102 if you run into danger. You can do this at the end of the game, when you’re running from the Ubume, and then back to your apartment (202).
Erena is attacked when you get to the Priest’s apartment. Just like the first ending, she is dragged back to the boiler room of the bathhouse, only to be rescued by Toru. He pours gasoline on the Landlord, where the furnace fire ignites his body. As the bathhouse goes up in flame, Toru speaks to you one last time, and then turns to sacrifice himself to end the curse.
Exorcise Ubume and free Yoko
Completing the second ending will give you Erena’s Umbilical Cord (pick it up next to the futon in apartment 202). The third ending is only unlocked by finding all four tiles in The Bathhouse. You need to complete these steps to unlock the final ending:
- Apartment 203: Pick up the apartment 203 key from the small table next to Erena’s futon. Go to this apartment immediately to find the first tile.
- Complete Umeki’s Firing Range mini-game.
- Solve Imojiro’s Quiz with these answers:
- Liver
- A sweet potato sprout
- Sweet potato
- Locked her up
- Somehow run away
- Use the magnet to move the tile in the Landlord’s apartment (room 201): Find the Landlord’s Shoebox key to get his apartment key. Enter the apartment, pick up the magnet off the table, and use it to move the tile inside the glass cabinet to the side that’s ajar.
Head to the shrine once you have all four tiles and insert these into the puzzle box to unlock the temple. Pick up Toru’s Umbilical Cord inside. Continue playing the game like normal. Because of the Umbilical Cords, you will skip Ubume’s fight and visit her in the other world instead. Erena will hand over Yoko’s sentimental items.
A comically brilliant fight between the Landlord and Priest ensues, where the Priest defeats the Landlord, and peace is restored to the village.
Ending differences in The Bathhouse and Restored Edition
Interestingly, there are multiple changes from Chilla’s ArtThe Bathhouse (2022) to The Bathhouse Restored Edition (2024). The Monk, who was the main antagonist of the original game, is now the Priest, and acts as the hero of the story, saving Erena from being sacrificed in the final ending.
The Bathhouse Restored also has a new character, Toru, who replaced the Mysterious Man from the original game. The original story followed two protagonists: Maina, who was the second victim to follow Yoko’s demise, and Erena, who is searching for Maina, her missing sister. Instead of the Mysterious Man from the original, it’s instead Toru, who is also revealed to be Erena’s twin brother.
While the ending cutscenes follow a similar pattern to the original where the protagonist is dragged by the Landlord and to the furnace, the final cutscene is very different to the original. In the Restored Edition; the Priest is a hero, Toru (the Mysterious Man) sacrifices himself, and the curse is lifted.
