Destiny 2 will finally allow you to chase specific perks on Exotic class items in the next Episode

Exotic class items are a hard-to-get armor type added to Destiny 2 with The Final Shape. With 64 possible perk combinations on each class item, it’s almost impossible to get the one you want quickly, but the developer is cooking up a solution.

On Aug. 19, the Destiny 2 Team X account shared a development screen of the perk Attunement feature for Exotic class items coming to Destiny 2. The screen shows all perks available on the Class item, and it lets you Attune to one of them. This feature is still in development and is subject to change, but we should expect to see it with the launch of Episode Two: Revenant.

Attunement for Exotic class items seems to work like Attunement for Onslaught weapons. Once you Attune to a specific perk, it increases the chances of your Exotic class items dropping with that perk, but doesn’t guarantee it. You also can only Attune to one perk at a time, regardless of the column.

This will make chasing down god-roll class items for your builds more bearable, although there’s still the question of acquiring the class item itself. In a TWID on Aug. 15, Bungie revealed that starting Aug. 20, Xûr can sell Exotic class items when he appears during the weekend. The class items he sells have random rolls, and if those are affected by the Attunement, your hunt can get much easier.

Outside of Xûr, the only way to farm Exotic class items right now is by completing Overthrow in the Pale Heart and running the Dual Destiny Exotic mission. Bungie says it “started making improvements” to how these Exotics are acquired, but some ideas are still early in development, so we might hear more about them as we get close to the launch of Revenant alongside class item Attunement.
