A list is a number of connected items or names written one after the other. A list can be any number, but 10 is the magic number for news publications. It’s neither too high nor too low—the perfect number.
There are many kinds of lists, but they don’t always come in 10s: Shopping lists, checklists, wish lists, and black lists, just to name a few.
‘Top ten, e.g.’ NYT Mini Crossword difficulty rating
I don’t want to brag, but it took me seconds to get the correct answer. I work with lists and have written countless listicles, so it’s no wonder I found it so easy. But I appreciate not everyone is a journalist. I’m giving this a two out of five on the difficulty rating scale.
