The Mourning Rise questline in World of Warcraft: The War Within is one of the biggest requirements to unlocking the Earthen Allied Race. It’s also tied to the Sojourner of Isle of Dorn achievement. Because it’s a key part of several elements in the WoW expansion, Blizzard has made certain that completely it is no easy task.
That’s okay though; we know how to start (and complete) the tricky quest.
How to start the Mourning Rise questline in The War Within
Start the Mourning Rise questline in The War Within by speaking with Korgran (who you can find east of Dornogal at the coordinates 57 and 43) to accept the Before I Depart quest. This is the first of 16 quests in the WoW questline.
All 16 quests in Mourning Rise questline are as follows:
- Before I Depart
- Honor their Memories
- You No Take Plunder!
- Laws Apply to All
- The Great Collapse
- Cutting the Wick
- Who Runs This Fine Establishment?
- One More Tradition
- The Forging of Memories
- The Last Journey
- The Lost Earthen
- A Change of Tradition
- Tools of Declaration
- Cleansing Ashes
- As He Departs
- The Weight of Duty
Like most questlines, as soon as one quest finishes, you’ll pick up the next. If you’re struggling with any of these WoW quests, I’ve included everything you need to know about how to start and complete every quest in this quest chain below.

As soon as you’ve finished Weight of Duty, you’ll have finished the Mourning Rise requirement for unlocking the Earthen Allied Race and have completed the Remember Me, Earthen questline needed for the Sojourner of Isle of Dorn achievement.
This questline does take a bit of time to complete, but it’s worth it if you’d like to become one of the titan-forged, or if you simply like earning achievements in WoW.
And, if you still need to complete the Merrix and Steelvein requirement to actually unlock the Earthen race, follow this guide to complete them.
