Another major Apex Legends LAN, and for the first time, a third different LAN champion in the same year. Spacestation Gaming grabbed the Split Two crown in one of the most hectic ALGS LANs in history—with competition only ramping up heading to the Championship in Japan.
In a marathon 10-game series that ended with more than half the teams in the finals lobby on match point, it was SSG that came out on top. It was a stunning run of games from the North American squad that began with them recording two last-place finishes in the finals first two matches, and only notching two points in the first three games. Then, the team exploded, only failing to record less than seven points in one match throughout the rest of the series and winning two matches, including their final match point victory.
Gaimin Gladiators sprinted out to match point after only three matches, and many more teams followed. Alliance, TSM, Fnatic, Team Liquid, Moist Esports, and NRG were the familiar names alongside VK Gaming, BLEED Esports, and Guild. But SSG’s excellent form on Storm Point and incredibly opportunistic final game victory after a questionable full-send from E36 on TSM lifted them to victory.
IGL Phony and Split Two addition Koyful notched their first major ALGS victory with the win, while Xynew recorded his second ALGS LAN victory after taking the Split Two playoffs last year with DarkZero.
Just as notable as the teams that placed near the front was the one that finished at the bottom: the international superteam Falcons assembled with Genburten, Zer0, and ImperialHal. The three players who had collectively been part of every single ALGS LAN champion team in year two and year three just couldn’t get anything going for them, and petered to 20th place in Germany.
For both champion and also-ran, though, all eyes now point toward the ALGS Championship—which is finally coming to Japan. The long-standing stronghold of Apex fandom is finally getting their ALGS LAN, with the Championship scheduled for Sapporo, Japan starting on Jan. 29, 2025.
