Riot’s latest partnership will transform your Worlds 2024 viewing experience

Riot Games uncovered a new multiyear global partnership with Opera GX for all its esports events today, starting with the 2024 League of Legends World Championship. The web browser created for gamers will bring fan-focused tools for the competition, including co-streamer channels, enhanced stats, and digital drops.

Riot said Opera GX is the “preferred browser” for all LoL Esports global events for the next few years, designed to enhance fans’ viewing experience.

Opera GX will offer viewers seamless navigation through Worlds content, enhanced match stats, and a hub for personalized streaming options, including the Co-Streamer Hub. This platform will allow fans to see and choose from over 75 co-streamer channels filtered by language and creator. Another key highlight of the partnership is the Worlds Unlocked bundle, which comes back for the second year offering fans exclusive in-game and physical items tied to the event—though fans were not thrilled by its price last year.

Riot’s head of global esports partnerships, David Mulhall, hinted that the partnership will “reimagine what an immersive and dynamic esports fan experience looks like,” though further details have yet to be shared with the public.

Opera GX is a web browser designed specifically for gamers, with features that enhance the gaming experience. One of its key tools is GX Control, which allows users to limit the CPU and RAM the browser uses so it doesn’t slow down their system while gaming.

The browser is well-known for giving gamers a space to engage with their favorite content and customize the platform without sacrificing performance.

However, despite its focus on enhancing players’ experiences, Opera GX has faced criticism over its resource usage. Although the browser allows users to limit CPU and RAM consumption, some users reported that it could be resource-heavy, particularly with multiple tabs open.

Fans now await to see how this partnership will shape their viewing experience of the biggest event of League’s competitive season. They hope to have access to several digital drops, like skins or other cosmetics, they can flaunt on the Rift.
