All classes with a battle resurrection ability in World of Warcraft

A combat resurrection or “brez” is one of the most valuable tools a World of Warcraft party can have at their disposal. Some classes have the ability to bypass the out-of-combat requirement to bring an ally back from the dead, making them essential for tricky raids and battles.

Healing and resurrections might make you think of classes like Paladins, but there’s a wide variety of classes that can bring their allies back from the other side. This wide variety gives parties more options for getting back on their feet if something goes wrong in a Mythic+ dungeon group.

Below, you’ll find every class with a battle resurrection ability in World of Warcraft, looking at which specific abilities can help bring a party member back from the dead and how they work.

Every battle resurrection ability in World of Warcraft

If you’ve never used a battle resurrection ability in World of Warcraft before, it’s important to note that they don’t usually bring a player back to life with full health and resources. For the most part, they’ll come back to life with a chunk of health missing and will still need healing up further.

On top of this, some battle resurrections are class-wide, while others are tied to particular specs. If you’re hoping to try out a new Healer spec, for example, it’s worth double-checking that you’ve got a battle resurrection ability available before hopping into your first raid.

Druid

Druids have access to the ability Rebirth, which brings a target back to life with 100 percent health and at least 20 percent mana. With such a high health marker and a 10 minute cooldown, this is easily one of the best battle resurrection spells in World of Warcraft.

On top of this, every Druid spec has access to Rebirth via the standard Druid spell book, along with a non-combat resurrection called Revive. It’s an extremely versatile class that you can shape to fit any number of encounter styles.

Warlock

Alongside their Healthstone creation ability, Warlocks can use Soulstones to resurrect their fallen allies in battle. It’s a class-wide ability that offers plenty of utility.

The unique thing about Soulstones is that they don’t just have to be cast in the moment. They can be used as a standard resurrection spell where needed, bringing someone back with 60 percent health and at least 20 percent mana, but they can also be pre-applied to a target before a tricky battle.

Should a player with a Soulstone fall during an encounter, all they’ll have to do is press the “Use Soulstone” button where the “Release Spirit” option would usually appear upon death, and they’ll find themselves back in the fight. It saves time and effort in difficult encounters, especially with bigger parties.

Paladin

Paladins have arguably the best toolkit when it comes to survivability and the recently added Intercession ability makes them even stronger in terms of healing power.

Intercession is somewhat similar to the Death Knight’s battle resurrection spell, bringing an ally back from the dead with 60 percent health and at least 20 percent mana. With just a 10 minute cooldown and cost of three Holy Power, it’s a rewarding ability.

Since the original release of WoW, Paladins have always had the class fantasy of a combat healer who can dish out damage and keep allies alive throughout the course of a battle. Now, they can bring allies back from the beyond should they fall in a fight, adding to their narrative appeal.

Death Knight

Death Knights have a cohesive aesthetic and class fantasy, and this carries across into their battle resurrection ability, too.

With just a 10 minute cooldown to contend with, Raise Ally is a class-wide battle resurrection ability that brings the target back from the dead with 60 percent health and 20 percent mana. It’s powerful enough to get a target right back on their feet, swinging a fight back in the party’s favor.

Shaman

Regardless of their chosen spec, Shamans have access to the Reincarnation passive. It activates when the player dies, bringing them back to health with 20 percent health and mana, and it can only activate once every 30 minutes.

Additionally, Restoration Shamans have access to a Totem ability called Ancestral Protection Totem. With a 30 second duration and 20 yard range, this Totem heals all allies within range for 10 percent health. If one dies, they come back with 20 percent health and mana, consuming the Totem.

Importantly, the Ancestral Protection Totem cannot reincarnate an ally who dies to massive damage so it’s not a cheat-death mechanic. It’s useful, but not invincible.

If you’re a Healer who hasn’t played a Restoration Shaman before, it’s worth looking into this spec. While it might not be topping the charts in high-level PvP or PvE content right now, it is a fun spec to play and has a wide toolkit to go alongside this handy brez ability.

Correction Jan. 26 7:43pm CT: A previous version of this article erroneously included battle resurrection spells attached to certain Hunter pets, which are no longer in the game. We regret this error.
