The 2025 LTA Split One Playoffs are entering their final phase, but Caedrel isn’t happy with the format. The former caster-turned-streamer had a vocal reaction to it on Feb. 17.
Caedrel can’t believe the format is so straightforward. “No double-elim, that’s it? Single-elim? That’s it? What the fuck, who made this shit,” he asked in disbelief after seeing the results of the quarterfinals.
The streamer couldn’t wrap his head around how the event doesn’t have a double-elimination even in the semifinals, like the 2025 LCK Cup. He slammed the format again when he realized that most of the playoffs are best-of-three, with only the final being a best-of-five series.
“What the fuck is that asscheeks? Single-elim best-of-three, four team cross-conference. Are you fucking cooked? What on earth are you on about? You get one best-of-five for your Fearless Split? Are you serious?” Caedrel added.
The playoffs of the first splits of major League competitions use the Fearless Draft format. While the LCK and the LEC have plenty of best-of-fives, the LTA only has one.
It appears fans couldn’t agree more with the streamer. “The whole point of Fearless is insane BO5s, and you have one,” a player said on Reddit. “I just don’t understand why Riot is afraid of having NA actually play games,” “he’s right, it’s a dogshit format,” another added.
In 2025, Fearless Draft is one of the biggest highlights of competitive League. Many fans have pointed out how they’re more eager to follow the competition since the draft and games are more entertaining now.
The first international tournament of 2025, First Stand, will also use a “Hard Fearless Draft.” This means that champions can be only picked once by either team during the series. The group stage will feature best-of-threes, while the knockout stage will be best-of-fives.
One player did the math and revealed how many Fearless Draft best-of-five series the champions of each region will have potentially played by the start of First Stand. It’s just one for LTA, while the champions of LCK and LPL could play up to eight.
