‘Ain’t cutting it’: Destiny 2 players agree raid armor needs changes so we have a reason to grind

Raids are the pinnacle of Destiny 2’s endgame. These expansive six-player activities are fun to play and grant some of the best loot in the game—except when it comes to armor.

In a July 29 Reddit thread, Destiny 2 players pointed out it’s “insane” that raids don’t have guaranteed high-stat armor drops. Right now, armor drops from raids are the same as any other activity, which means you’re likely to get a low 60-roll that belongs in the trash. The best thing you can do with raid armor is dismantle it and use it for transmog.

“It’s supposed to be the hardest activity in the game, it should provide rewards to match. Artifice armor should also drop from master mode. But 61 stat points with zero spikes ain’t cutting it,” the poster of the thread wrote.

Earning high-stat raid armor would also allow you to finally use raid mods. These mods are exclusive to use in specific raids on respective armor, and right now, there’s no reason to use them because you’d be trading your double or triple 100 stats due to low armor rolls, which isn’t worth it.

Many players highlighted that they’ve never used raid mods in Destiny 2 because of terrible stat rolls. Others agreed armor, in general, needs a rework. Most players grinded for good armor pieces years ago, and there was never a reason to do it again.

Creating dedicated armor sets for raids would be a niche grind, but a new layer of buildcrafting and endgame content we could explore after clearing the raid for the first time.
