Black Myth: Wukong is packed with challenging boss encounters. From fearsome beast-men to grotesque monsters, the boss battles are the stars of the show—but some are hidden off the beaten path. For a comprehensive list of every boss in Black Myth: Wukong, keep scrolling.
All Chapter 1 bosses in Black Myth Wukong
Bullguard
Aside from the opening tutorial boss, the Bullguard is the first proper boss encounter you face in Black Myth: Wukong. It’s a mandatory boss fight blocking your path, and you acquire the time-bending Immobilize ability during the encounter to help you out.
Wandering Wight
I would argue the Wandering Wight is the toughest boss in Chapter One. It’s likely to be the second boss you face, but it probably won’t be the second boss you defeat. It’s Wukong’s version of Elden Ring‘s Tree Sentinel or Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Rancor—so come back to it later if you’re struggling.
Guangzhi
Guangzhi is a missable boss in Black Myth: Wukong, but one you should face to acquire the Red Tides Spell. Instead of fighting the Wandering Wight (or running past it), go in a straight line from the Forest of Wolves: Outside The Forest Shrine, and you’ll hear Guangzhi talking as you get close to the boss arena.
Lingxuzi
After the Bullguard, Lingxuzi is the next compulsory boss fight. The majestic white mutt is a fast and furious foe who loves to dart around the arena, but is very susceptible to the Red Tides Spell obtained by beating Guangzhi.
Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
The bosses come thick and fast in Game Science’s action title. Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang is one of many optional fights and requires you to head off the beaten path shortly after the Bamboo Grove: Snake Trail Shrine. From the rest point, follow the natural path forward until you go down a hill—past two flaming pots—and instead of going straight on, drop down into the water to your right, and venture further into the arena.
Guangmou
Another unmissable fight is Guangmou, and he’s a stern test. Facing him is a given, and you should have accumulated enough abilities, skills, and experience to defeat this main story boss.
Whiteclad Noble
Oh boy, I can see the Whiteclad Noble boss giving a lot of players grief. While its moveset isn’t overly complicated, this mandatory story boss is the first two-phase fight, it’s quick, and will not allow you to put distance between yourselves. Have patience with this one.
Black Wind King
Black Myth: Wukong has a lot of bosses—but I’m sure you’ve guessed this by now. The Black Wind King is next up, and is also unavoidable. Be wary of his invisibility, as he hides a litany of attacks thanks to his frequent disappearing act.
Black Bear Guai
The final boss in Black Myth: Wukong Chapter One is the Black Bear Guai. It has a Lingxuzi vibe to the fight, only it’s much tougher, and once you anger Black Bear Guai by knocking off enough of its health, its moveset becomes more aggressive, and it becomes more fiery (literally.)
Red Loong
Red Loong is a challenging optional boss encounter in Chapter One. You need the Loong Scales to access this fight, which you get by squeezing through a crack in the First Prince of Flowing Sands’ boss arena in Chapter Two.
After you have the Loong Scales, backtrack to the Outside the Forest Shrine in Chapter One. Keep left, and you’ll encounter a flowing waterfall that you can clear using the Loong Scales to access a secret area containing Red Loong.

Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw
That’s right, the boss whose name you probably can’t pronounce is back for round two. This time, he’s in a murky pond near the start of Chapter Two. He doesn’t put up much of a fight, so you should have no problem beating him.
Second Rat Prince & King of Flowing Sands
This is the first major boss encounter in Chapter Two. The King of Flowing Sands stands on the pillars, chucking projectiles at you, while the Second Rat Prince engages you in melee. I found the easiest way to beat the boss was to ignore the King and rush the Second Rat Prince down, because this way, you avoid phase two.
First Prince of Flowing Sands
The First Prince of Flowing Sands is an optional boss encounter in a cave in Sandgate Village, shortly after the Valley of Despair Shrine. He drops the Arhat Gold Piece, which you need to progress the drunken boar’s questline to open the door to the Fuban optional boss. You can also get the Loong Scales by squeezing through a crack near the boss arena, which unlocks Red Loong in Chapter One and Black Loong in Chapter Two.
Mother of Stones
The Mother of Stones is an easy optional boss in Squall Hideout. You need to beat the Stone Mother to free the Man-in-Stone merchant, who sells the Sobering Stone (that you need to give to the drunken boar). This boss doesn’t attack you—instead, you need to kill waves of stone-head enemies while chipping away at the Mother’s health bar.
Tiger Vanguard
The Tiger Vanguard is one of the hardest bosses in Chapter Two, and he isn’t optional. You find him in a giant pool of blood in Crouching Tiger Temple. Beating him nets you the Keenness of Tiger key item, which you need to open the Tally Gates in Chapter Two.
Stone Vanguard
The Stone Vanguard is a giant rock elemental who guards the way forward, shortly after the Rockrest Flat Shrine. He has lots of heavy smash attacks and AoE abilities, but if you’ve made it this far, the Stone Vanguard shouldn’t be a problem for you.
Gore-Eye Daoist
The Gore-Eye Daoist is another optional Chapter Two boss, and it looks like something straight out of Bloodborne. Find it by heading over a rope suspension bridge in Sandgate Village.
Black Loong
Black Loong is a challenging side-boss in an optional area. At first, the way to Black Loong is blocked by a sandfall near the Rockrest Flat Shrine. If you have the Loong Scales (that you get through a crack in the wall near the First Prince of Flowing Sands’ boss arena), you can dispel the Sandfall and fight Black Loong on the other side.
Fuban
Fuban is another side-boss, and if you kill him, you get an important item: the Wind Tamer. This makes the final boss of the area much easier. To reach Fuban, complete the drunken boar’s questline until he opens the gate to a new region.
Yellow Wind Sage
The Yellow Wind Sage is the final boss of Chapter Two and undoubtedly the hardest boss in Black Myth: Wukong so far. You can’t miss him, but you’ll need all the help you can get—including the Wind Tamer, which interrupts him and dispels his whirlwind magic. If you’re struggling, check out our comprehensive boss guide to beat the Yellow Wind Sage in Black Myth: Wukong.
This guide is a work in progress, and we’ll add more bosses from Black Myth: Wukong’s later chapters as we encounter them.
