Astro Bot’s first area, Gorilla Nebula, has a few secret levels hiding away for you to find on your way to 100 percent completion. They can be tricky to find if you don’t know where to look, though.
Thankfully, we’ve painstakingly spent more time than we care to admit to finding them all so we can pass that knowledge on to you.
A quick spoiler warning before we continue: Some of these levels are later in the world, so we need to talk about the first boss fight to tell you how to unlock them all. So, if you haven’t got that far yet and don’t want to be spoiled, come back later—we’ll still be here.
All secret levels in Astro Bot Gorilla Nebula and how to unlock them
Gorilla Nebula has three secret levels in Astro Bot, and it might take a while before they all unlock.
You can unlock the first secret level, Retro Rampage 1, relatively early. After beating Sky Garden and unlocking additional levels in the area, a cluster of rock circles appears in the top left of the map whenever you exit any level. Fly Astro over to those rocks quickly and destroy them before they disappear to get the first of the three levels to spawn.
It’s a quick little combat-orientated level where you must destroy a few enemies as quickly as possible. Finishing it gets you the Ryu Bot, based on Street Fighter. It’s also one of the two Bots you need for the KO! Trophy.
The second and third levels are unlocked the same way. These levels are called Rolling Star Sola and Crumble Rumble 1.
After beating the world’s major boss, Mighty Chewy, and getting the Spike Bot based on the Ape Escape series, you unlock the level Apes on the Loose. You don’t need to play it to unlock the two final secret levels, but you do need to unlock it to meet the requirements for the next one to spawn.
After getting the level two spawn, two asteroids start flying in a loop in the top left and the top right of the level. If you sit on the overworld screen and wait, you should see them appear. As Astro, fly into both to get the final two levels to spawn.
Both levels are challenge levels and give you two other Bots based on IPs I am unfamiliar with. So, we’ll leave them as a surprise.
Finally, while it isn’t a level, a lone Puzzle Piece can also spawn in the overworld to add to your total. You need to find all of these to 100% complete the area if you plan to collect everything you possibly can.
