The most-picked legends in Apex Legends season 22
Pathfinder: 14.3 percent
Pathfinder has always been fun to play, and now he’s actually quite good in the meta as well. After seeing plenty of pro teams bring the Pathfinder picks back like it was 2019 all over again, Pathfinder has surged even further to the top of charts. He provides good utility in getting to access either Ring Consoles or Survey Beacons at level two, and getting to choose between his Grapple resetting on a knock or his whole team getting damage reductions while on ziplines lets players customize the MRVN unit to their own playstyle.
Lifeline: 8.0 percent
Lifeline is a great pick for beginners who want to only keep track of a couple things to focus on and not be the main fragger of the team, and she can also be useful for higher-ranked players trying to fight off third parties. And if rumors are to be believed, she might be getting some changes very soon that could make even more people give her a shot.
Bangalore: 6.3 percent
Bangalore has definitely dropped a bit, at one point being one of the most popular legends with casuals and pro players alike. But she’s still a solid, do-it-all type character for players to pick up. Want to be a solo menace? Her smokes and Double Time passive can help you do that. Want to play as a team and help rotate? Smokes and her ultimate can do that too. Bangalore’s just a good character.
Octane: 6.0 percent
Octane hasn’t gotten any really substantive change in a while, and he’s not even a particularly good character compared to much of the other cast—and that doesn’t matter one bit. A perpetual favorite for casuals, Octane excels at going fast, jumping into fights, and feeding face. Have you even played Apex if you’ve never dropped into a pub, had a random Octane on your team sprint away from you and into a fight, get knocked, and inta-leave the game?
Wraith: 5.1 percent
There’s just something about Wraith that still brings in the sweatiest, grimiest players. She’s still a perfect solo pub-stomping machine, her tactical great for getting out of sticky situations and making her a nightmare to deal with in multi-floor zipline buildings. And she has an abundance of cool skins, possibly the best collection in the game. She’s even got two Heirlooms to shoot for. What’s not to like?
The least-picked legends in Apex Legends season 22
Catalyst: 1.0 percent
After a substantial nerf to Catalyst as a means of curbing the “can’t see shit” meta that pervaded ALGS play for a long time, Catalyst has settled into the bottom of the pick rate charts. She wasn’t ultra-popular before, and her peak pick rate was largely driven by just how good her ultimate and tactical abilities could be in a team setting where you were trying to play a bit more tactically and not running down every fight. Now that she’s been taken down a peg, her largely passive playstyle just doesn’t vibe with many players.
Ballistic: 1.0 percent
Ballistic never really found his place in the meta. His Whistler tactical can be strong, especially in 1v1s, but it’s difficult for Respawn to ever make it much stronger than it currently is given just how annoying the mechanic can be. Add in an ultimate that’s just ok and no movement abilities to speak of outside of a little speed boost while ulting, and Ballistic really only has his vibes going for him.
Alter: 0.9 percent
Listen: I really love playing Alter. That said, it takes a lot of creativity to make the most of her kit, and even then, there’s really only one map in which her abilities get to be used often. That’s E-District, with all of its nooks and crannies. Playing out an endgame in Street Market will make you feel incredibly impactful, yes. But in all of the other maps, there aren’t many structures and buildings to take advantage of Alter’s main thing: going through walls. In a world where most maps just don’t give her the opportunity to shine, Alter is niche at best.
Gibraltar: 0.8 percent
Gibby’s in a tough spot. He’s not proven to be very popular anymore, even with shotguns coming back into the meta thanks to the rise of the Mozambique and aim assist nerfs substantially weakening SMG play. And if you want to have a shield character on your team, Newcastle just seems better in every way, with a permanent shield option that doubles as a Wattson pylon and a movement ability attached to his ultimate to boot. Even Gibraltar’s gunshield has been cheapened by the new Gun Shield Generator hop-up. He’s just not very good or fun, which lands him near the bottom.
Seer: 0.4
Seer is at rock bottom right now, recording his lowest-ever pick rates. Thanks to Valkyrie’s readmission to the Recon class and the substantial buffs Crypto received this season, there just doesn’t seem to be much reason to play Seer right now. Most of what he can do, other legends can also do while offering you even more utility. He also doesn’t have any particularly fun movement abilities, so he’s just stuck, land-locked, to the bottom of the charts.
