Baldur’s Gate Patch 7 arrives this week, finally adding mod support

Patch Seven is the next major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, adding mod support among many other things—and its release is way closer than you might think.

During the PAX West 2024 panel on Aug. 30, the CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, revealed that Patch Seven for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming out sometime this week. There’s no set date or time for the release just yet, but expect it before the end of the week by Sept. 9.

Patch Seven finally adds official mod support to Baldur’s Gate 3, and Vincke stated the team is “putting a lot of attention on the modding community.” That includes the developers spending a lot of time with modders and looking at mods Larian can officially support.

“Our goal is to do cross-platform modding support, which isn’t the easiest thing in the world,” Vincke said. He explained how the team is starting with the PC version while the console version will come a bit later due to additional submission processes and potential bugs identified on the PC.

Apart from official mod support, Patch Seven features improved evil endings for both the Dark Urge and non-Dark Urge players. There will also be multiple bug fixes, including Jaheira’s over-willingness for combat, Wyll’s less-than-romantic greetings, and disappearing Narrator lines.

This patch won’t be the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3. During the panel, Vincke mentioned the team is still working on a few more updates, which likely include previously revealed features, like crossplay, a photo mode, several gameplay tweaks, and bug fixes.
