Call of Duty leakers have dropped a huge round of details about specific details coming with the launch of Black Ops 6 in late October, including a supposed confirmed map list—featuring the return of a few series staples—and a long-awaited feature making a return to the franchise.
Leak account “Betterthanalaix” dropped dozens of tweets, images, and video clips on X (formerly Twitter) on Aug. 3. Included were small clips of gameplay footage showcasing features like Black Ops 6‘s omnimovement system and slide canceling, the apparent return of the custom reticles system via a menu tab, and a list of maps set to be available on launch.
Fans will be pleased to know Nuketown is included in the map list. The map was first introduced way back with the original Black Ops in 2010 and quickly became one of the franchise’s most popular maps ever. Other remastered maps like Firing Range, Hacienda, and Vorkuta were also listed by the data miner. After seeing the success of remastered maps in Modern Warfare 3, it’s no surprise Activision and Treyarch will return to battlefields of old for the release of Black Ops 6.
Another clip shared by the data miner includes the player interacting with elements on maps in Black Ops 6, including secret doors, vents, security systems, and zip lines. We’ve already seen a few of these elements make their way into recent CoD titles, but these secret sections of each map will add a touch of complexity to the otherwise standard map layouts we’ve seen from the franchise.
A majority of the leaked information came from the X/Twitter account “betterthanalaix,” which references popular data miner HeyImAlaix who was legally threatened by Activision late last year. Just hours after the tweets went live, the bulk of videos and screenshots had been taken down “in response to a report from the copyright holder,” but most have begun doing the rounds on other sites like Reddit.
It’s a bit of a blow for Activision, given much of the shared information today was likely going to be revealed at the CoD Next showcase event on Aug. 28. Nevertheless, the community is already buzzing thanks to the leaks today, with hype building ahead of the Activision summit and the game’s open beta in September.
