Concord TV episode still in the works despite game’s demise

Sony Interactive Games and Firewalk Studios’ biggest flop for the year in Concord may be officially dead, but its planned television episode is still on track for release in Amazon Prime’s upcoming video game anthology series Secret Level.

Secret Level, which was announced during this year’s Gamescom’s Opening Night, is an adult anthology series where each of its 15 episodes is inspired by different video game franchises. While Concord crashed and burned only two weeks after it debuted, it may live on through its single episode in Secret Level which is still expected to air on Dec. 10, according to IGN.

If IGN’s sources are correct, it’s not surprising in the least that Concord will still get its episode because there are only three more months until this anthology is slated to drop on Prime Video. It would be quite challenging for Blur Studio, the team behind Secret Level, to suddenly switch the show’s lineup. While I have every faith that these creators, who are also the visionaries behind Netflix’s hit show Love, Death, and Robots, could pull it off, it’s unlikely they’ll change an entire episode at the last minute just because the game was unexpectedly scrapped.

Given what’s happened, I hope the studio wasn’t banking on Concord being a new and prospectively successful title to help drive hype and views because we now know the game didn’t land as the devs had intended—it was nothing short of a flop. But with Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer 40K, and God of War still having original stories in Secret Level, there’s a good chance the Concord episode will succeed alongside them.

At the time of writing this, Prime Video and Blur Studio haven’t officially revealed whether they will remove and replace this episode or if they will keep it in the lineup as IGN’s sources suggest. For now, we can only hope this discarded title will get a more positive response and a nice farewell when Secret Level airs this winter.
