CS2 players discover yet another gamebreaking bomb glitch that ruins games

Counter-Strike 2 has had its fair share of game-ruining bugs of late that Valve has quickly squashed, but a new glitch using a console command to hold the bomb after an attacker’s death has popped up this week threatening to spoil matches.

The new CS2 console glitch was picked up by X/Twitter user @aquaismissing almost two weeks ago but went viral today after content creator dima_wallhacks showed off the exploit in a short clip. While holding the bomb, dima_wallhacks tested the exploit by dropping a Molotov and grenade on himself, and after dying and before a teammate could collect the bomb, entered a console command that allowed him to pick up the bomb.

The minimap displays the bomb dropped on the ground, and looking at the dead player’s model, the bomb can be clearly seen beneath it—but no matter how hard they tried, T-sided teammates could not collect the bomb off of dima’s body. “It’s there, [but] no—you can’t pick it up, I have it in my hand!” he said.

We tested the exploit ourselves and could replicate it every single time as long as the command was entered immediately after dying with the bomb already in hand, and before a teammate could pick it up from us. Dima showcased an even easier method by binding the command to a key, making it very easy to retrieve the bomb. Without it, the T side would only have one way to win the round—eliminating the defenders before the clock ran out.

It’s the latest in a long line of gamebreaking bugs players have discovered in CS2. Despite the welcome addition of new community maps and other content, continued performance issues, hitbox problems, and map geometry glitches, it’s clear Valve has plenty more to do to seek the approval of the game’s hardcore fanbase.
