Don’t Starve Together: How to get Morning Star in DST

Don’t Starve Together shares many similarities with the original Don’t Starve. These similarities include a variety of items and weapons. One of the more prominent weapons is the Morning Star, a melee weapon introduced in the original game’s DLC. Here’s how you can acquire it.

How to get the Morning Star in Don’t Starve Together

The Morning Star is a powerful melee weapon first introduced in Don’t Starve: Reign of Giants DLC. The weapon is now stronger than ever in Don’t Starve Together, and there are a couple of ways you can acquire it.

The old-fashioned way involves crafting it with prerequisite components, but if you enjoy exploring, you can acquire it as a rare drop from certain enemies. Finding it is often unreliable, however, and requires you to go through several skeleton enemies, which takes a while, so we focus on crafting the Morning Star instead.

Unlike finding the Morning Star, this method usually takes longer to acquire the weapon, but success is assured. The first order of business is getting a Science Machine up and running in your base. You can do this with a Gold Nugget, four Logs, and four Rocks. Craft the Science Machine and begin prototyping its tier two upgrade, the Alchemy Engine.

Crafting the Alchemy Engine is expensive because it requires four Boards, two Cut Stones, and six Gold Nuggets. This is an important prerequisite because you cannot craft the Morning Star without a tier-two Science Machine. Now that you have the Alchemy Engine, the final step involves finding the materials to craft the weapon.

The Morning Star requires one Volt Goat Horn, two Electrical Doodads, and one Nitre to craft. Once you create the weapon, you need to know how best to use it.

How to use the Morning Star in Don’t Starve Together

The Morning Star can be considered the strongest melee weapon in Don’t Starve Together. To realize its full potential, however, you must use the weapon on wet enemies. Using it on wet enemies deals 72 damage per hit, but using it on dry enemies deals a little more than half its usual, at 43 damage per hit.

As such, it’s best used on constantly wet enemies such as Depths Worms, Merms, and all varieties of Tentacles. The Morning Star also radiates light, making it great for exploring dark areas. It does not lose durability based on hits, but when the weapon is in your hand. The Morning Star’s durability lasts six minutes, so use it wisely.
