The release date for Dragon Age The Veilguard appears to have been leaked hours ahead of an official reveal.
A trailer for Dragon Age The Veilguard was set to premiere on YouTube on Aug. 15 at 9am PT/11am CT/12pm ET/5pm BST/2am AEST (Aug. 16), but the full trailer has now been shared across social media platforms.
Though the trailer does not appear to show any new footage, instead being compiled of clips shown earlier this year in gameplay footage, it does confirm the planned release date and the PEGI 18 rating.
According to the leaks, Veilguard will be released on Oct. 31 on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Of course, the leak is not guaranteed to be accurate, though the full trailer does appear to be authentic.
The leaks would make developer Bioware the latest in a long line of those to have seen its big reveals taken away from it. The most famous incident concerned Grand Theft Auto 6, as the full reveal trailer was leaked.
Rockstar then released the trailer early, with the clips spreading like wildfire across social media. It expressed disappointment its big moment was snatched away.
It remains to be seen whether Bioware will adopt a similar approach, though the leaks only emerged a few hours ago, and the developer is based in Canada, so it may not have seen the leaks yet.
Anticipation for Veilguard is certainly high after a decade of waiting for the next entry in the Dragon Age series, something fans were not accustomed to, with eight games in the franchise released between 2009 and 2014.
