Faker is close to playing nearly half of League of Legends’s official roster in pro play after locking in his seventh pick this weekend in the LCK playoffs.
During T1’s series with KT Rolster in the 2024 Summer LCK playoffs, Faker locked in Smolder for the first time, a usually dominant ADC champion. It ended up serving the legendary midlaner well, helping T1 win the match and eventually win the series 3-1 to move on to the next round.
There are over 160 champions in League of Legends, so Faker is a few more unique picks away from playing over half the total champion pool. He doesn’t even have to win the game, just play the champion to add another notch to the legendary milestone.
It represents another milestone in Faker’s career that has spanned over a decade. While Smolder is Faker’s 78th champion in pro play, it represents a small blip on Faker’s impressive champion resume.
Of the 78 champions Faker has played, Azir is his most-played pro champion at 180-plus total games. He has an impressive 68 percent win rate on the champion. Orianna comes second at 90-plus games and a 70 percent win rate, with Ryze taking the bronze medal at 70-plus games and a 63 percent win rate.
Even with Azir being Faker’s most played champion, Faker doesn’t have a Worlds winning skin with Azir. While SKT Azir exists as a skin, the skin was awarded to SKT sub-Easyhoon for SKT’s 2016 World Championship victory.
Getting back to Faker, it feels like it’s only a matter of time until he locks in his 79th pick, especially with new champions on the horizon and a World Championship to look forward to at the end of September.
