Just when you thought Faker’s illustrious LoL career couldn’t get better, the unkillable demon king is about to break another record.
With Doublelift retired and Deft and Jensen failing to qualify, Faker will officially hold the record for the player with the most appearances at the League of Legends World Championship. T1 and Faker punched their ticket to Worlds 2024 after a nailbiting five-game series against Telecom rivals KT Rolster.
All Faker has to do is show up on stage, and the record is his. According to the wiki page, lolfandom, Jensen, Faker, Deft, and Doublelift all tie for the spot currently on eight appearances each, but only Faker will get the opportunity to add to their tally this year. Longevity reigns supreme at Worlds 2024, with Impact, CoreJJ, and Maple, all on seven appearances, respectively, having another crack at the summoners cup.
It was a long and bumpy road for T1 and Faker to qualify for Worlds 2024. The team faced many problems, specifically Faker, whose well-being was a big concern for the community after headbutting a wall following a loss to rivals Gen.G.
Despite all their problems, T1 rose to the challenge and secured the fourth seed, the final spot available for Worlds 2024. With T1 winning the 2023 World Championship, fans get to see the defending champions fight to retain their crown. For Faker and T1, this would be the fifth World Championship if they could win from the fourth seed.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see Faker and T1 in action, with the Worlds Swiss stage officially kicking off on Oct. 3.
