Final act of Destiny 2’s Echoes episode brings new Exotic mission and weapon tomorrow

The final act of Destiny 2’s new Episode model begins tomorrow, Aug. 27, and a new trailer has teased what players can expect from it when they return to orbit.

The Breach Executable and Battlegrounds activities will stick around throughout the Episode’s duration, but the main addition in Act Three of Echoes is a new Exotic mission called Encore that rewards a new Exotic weapon.

Destiny 2’s newest Exotic is Choir of One, a Void auto rifle that uses Special ammo and looks like it fires rounds that split off into multiple powerful projectiles. But that won’t be the only weapon being added to Guardian arsenals everywhere.

There are also two new seasonal guns, the Solar light machine gun Speleologist and Void trace rifle Chronophage, being added to the season’s loot pool. The final levels of the Echoes season pass will be unlocked too, allowing players to level up and earn more gear and loot than a Destiny 2 season ever allowed before.

New Artifact perks round out the announced additions to the game, but as Bungie is known to do, don’t be surprised if there are some new secrets to discover. But with each Episode Act lasting six weeks, don’t expect the Halloween-themed Festival of the Lost event to come around until Episode Two: Revenant, which will likely begin on Oct. 8.

The first entry in Destiny 2’s new episodic model has been hit or miss with players, but something to keep an eye on will be the game’s player count to see how many return for a new Act, and eventually a new episode, to get an idea of how many are still engaged with the story.

After topping out at over 314,000 players on Steam for The Final Shape’s launch, the game’s daily player count has steadily dropped but is still holding strong at 38,000 players on Aug. 26.
