The Haunting is set to return to Call of Duty, and it’s bringing an all-time favorite slasher film villain with it.
In a reunion from a Call of Duty: Ghosts collaboration 11 years ago, Halloween’s Michael Myers is back in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone as part of season six. The final season of MW3 goes live next week and will look to ratchet up the scares.
The machete-wielding murderer with the iconic blank mask is just one of several new skins coming within season six, which also adds Art the Clown from Terrorizer and pumpkin-headed Sam from Trick r’ Treat. The above video also showed some very creepy skins for characters like Ghost and Makarov, furthering the scary vibes of the season.
Myers was a trendsetter back in 2013, though, as one of the first playable collab characters in CoD Ghosts as part of the Onslaught DLC. The real crossover collabs began in 2020 with Modern Warfare, including Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so this trend of horror icons coming in The Haunting continues.
The teaser video posted by CoD on socials also included what looks like the return of Zombie Royale, a popular mode where players in Warzone can turn into zombies and hunt down enemies to revive themselves.
Last year’s Haunting featured several mini-boss characters like a zombie pharoah, swamp monster, UFO, and even The Butcher from Diablo. More info about season six’s Haunting and how the crossover characters will fit in to CoD this year should be revealed in the coming days.
MW3’s season six begins next week on Sept. 18, and will likely run through the end of November until Black Ops 6’s season one begins. The first season of BO6 does not have a release date yet but will likely kick off in the beginning of December.
