At some point in your Enshrouded playthrough, you’ll want to get your hands on Lapislazuli. This resource is required for a number of recipes, but even if you’re not a big crafter, this purple little rock is needed for upgrading your Flame Altar—and you’ll need a lot of it.
Tracking down Lapislazuli can take time, though. It only spawns in the Kindlewastes, one of Embervale’s later biomes. And in this miserably hot desert, it can be difficult to find if you don’t know where to look. Luckily for players, there are a few distinct areas where you can always expect to find this useful ingredient.
Here’s what you need to know about how to find Lapislazuli in Enshrouded.
Where to find Lapislazuli in Enshrouded
To get Lapislazuli in Enshrouded, you’ll need to grab your pickaxe and head to the Kindlewastes, which are located southeast of the Nomad Highlands. If you’ve already visited this region, head to its Ancient Spire. If this is your first time traveling to the desert wastelands, however, you’ll need to first teleport to the Ancient Spire – Nomad Highlands, then venture east. Eventually, you’ll come across fluffy sand and molten-orange rocks—that’s how you’ll know you’re in the Kindlewastes.
If it is, in fact, your first time in this biome, I recommend grabbing the region’s fast travel points while you’re here, because it makes it easier to pop back and forth between your base and the Lapislazuli mining location. This method helped me out when I was searching for Tin Ore.
Now that you’re in the Kindlewastes, it’s time to start hunting Lapislazuli. This mineral appears as a collection of plum-colored rocks jutting out from the ground, as shown in the image above. Its color helps it stand out from the environment, but this unfortunately doesn’t change the fact that Lapislazuli is a fairly rare mineral. I’ve had more luck travelling further south in search of this resource.
Although the exact spawn of deposits vary from person to person, here are a few locations where I found Lapislazuli deposits:
- Southwest of Shorewatch, where you find one of the tamable dogs
- South of the Oasis location, which is southeast of the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire
- In a mineshaft with Sulfur due east of the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire
I recommend crafting a better axe, like a Copper Axe, to both speed up the rate at which you’ll receive Lapislazuli from the deposit and reduce the rate at which your axe will lose durability. This will help prevent you having to travel back to a crafting bench and repair your tools, allowing you to harvest the resource for longer periods of time.
If you’re still having trouble finding Lapislazuli, take a peek at your display settings. I had turned off my small foliage setting to better hunt for Stinging Nettle, and with this setting off, Lapislazuli deposits disappeared completely. It wasn’t until I spotted a purple patch of sandstone after searching for an extended period of time that I discovered this limitation.
You can build your own Flame Altar close to a deposit to serve as a fast-travel point, but avoid placing it too close to the mining location. If you mine or alter the terrain inside your base, the game won’t respawn those resources, meaning this cache of Lapislazuli will be gone until you remove your altar. Instead, place it far enough from the deposit so that it’s not within the yellow lines of the build zone.
Crafting recipes using Lapislazuli
When you have enough Lapislazuli in your inventory, bring it back to your base to begin completing any of your difficult crafting projects. Many of these items also require other end-game items, such as Eternal Spells that you can make at the Alchemist, armor sets from craftspeople like the Hunter and the Blacksmith, and fancy furniture from the Carpenter.
You’ll want to gradually explore the Kindlewastes to find more Lapislazuli, and be careful how much you use for your many projects in Enshrouded. It takes a keen eye to track down Lapislazuli, and you’ll want to bring some good equipment to fight off the enemies in this region.
