Once Human’s chaotic, eerie world is a paradise for survival fans, but what’s the point if you can’t explore it without hiccups? While multiple efforts to offer a crash-free experience have been made since release, Patch 1.1 has made things worse—and Starry Studio is “deeply” apologetic about it.
After the latest Once Human update dropped on Aug. 14, players have reported crashing out before reaching the main menu, even on high-end rigs. More concerning reports about the game causing players’ systems to crash into a complete shutdown have also emerged. Many players are unable to load into their Eternaland save as well, causing major distress in the fandom.
Thankfully, Starry Studio has acknowledged the issue and issued a statement, apologizing and promising to fix things soon. While the dev hasn’t revealed “the problem” it discovered, it’s likely Patch 1.1 broke a crucial component of the netcode, hence the crashes.
“We have received feedback from some players about the issue of crashing during the game entry process. We have identified the problem and are urgently fixing it,” the message from the developer reads. “We deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused and will promptly update information with you after the problem is fixed.”
If you are among the several affected Once Human fans, a fix is expected soon, so patience is key. Until then, you can try some common workarounds to potentially make the game playable on your end. This includes updating your system’s OS and graphic drivers and checking to ensure your PC isn’t overheating due to multitasking. You can also try closing all unnecessary background apps and checking your internet connection’s stability—all standard fixes when dealing with any sort of bug or server instability.
