Switch 2 is more of the same, but bigger, leaked images suggest

Images of a supposed Switch 2 have leaked online today, showcasing the console and some concept images of how it might look, but not everyone is convinced it is real.

The images sprung up on X (formerly Twitter) and other social media sites in the past couple of hours, showcasing a console that appears to be a Switch with a bigger screen. Everything we expect from a Switch appears to be in these images, including detachable, though different-looking, Joy-Con controllers and a larger stand that pops out of the back of the system.

At first glance, the images don’t appear to be real. Social media is full of fake Switch 2 leaks, and it appeared these images were another inclusion in the long line of duds. That was until VideoGameChronicle’s Andy Robinson released an article claiming that the images published today, while unverified, match up with what partners had been told to expect about its design, according to the website’s sources. So, while the images and items shown off might not be real, the concept of the console at least aligns with earlier reports.

There are some minor differences between the rumored Switch 2 and Switch, which comes from some extra info from these supposedly leaked images. Apparently, the Switch 2 will include 12GB of RAM, which is three times as much as the Switch, and has 256GB of internal storage, which is a massive jump from the Switch’s 32GB. The Joy-Con controllers also seem to have a different SL/SR button and a few changes that make the console look more sleek and polished.

Remember to take these and any information or leaks with a pinch of salt. There is no confirmation that these images are real, and until Nintendo confirms what the console looks like and is called, fans are left guessing on what direction the company will go for its next hardware. We shouldn’t have to wait long either, with an announcement coming before March 31, 2025.
