The Casting of Frank Stone: Should you haggle with the Curiosity shopkeeper?

Following your introduction to the ’80s trio in The Casting of Frank Stone, you set out to repair their broken camera lens—but can you haggle for something better?

This small adventure to the Drugstore or Curiosity shop ends at Endless Curiosities regardless. While your camera cannot be repaired, another is offered to you for a small fee. Given the opportunity to haggle, do you take it?

Playing as Chris, you can either accept the asking price or haggle. It seems like another important decision, but is it? Here’s whether you should haggle or accept the shopkeeper’s price in The Casting of Frank Stone.

Yet another choice that feels important until you reach the credits and quickly realize it didn’t matter in the long run. Deciding whether to haggle with the shopkeeper isn’t an important decision in The Casting of Frank Stone. While it isn’t obvious until you make your decision, choosing to haggle gives you the old camera and a pocket mirror. Meanwhile, accepting the price gives you only the camera.

I was so eager to see what this pocket mirror would do, but it wasn’t until the credits rolled that I realized the pocket mirror I’d picked up earlier was never brought up again. It didn’t get someone killed or save someone’s life. This item was called a “good luck charm” by the shopkeeper, so naturally, I assumed she was lying. Instead, it’s highly likely the mirror works similarly to Jaime’s firecrackers, appearing in one event that may save a character’s life. It’s possible to pick up items and not need to use them (depending on your choices).

I had the pocket mirror on me and saved everyone, but I also left the pocket mirror and still saved everyone. Two playthroughs, one result. Regardless of how much money you get off Bonnie, the camera’s price adjusts to what you have. So, neither option is better. You don’t need to haggle with the shopkeeper to achieve the good ending.
