Submachine guns are widely considered the most consistent and best primary weapons in Destiny 2, but finding one that’s good for both PvE and PvP is tough. Fear not, Guardian: The all-in-one solution exists in the form of the Unending Tempest.
Unending Tempest is a 600 RPM Stasis submachine gun available from the Crucible, and it has it all. It has Headstone to synergize with Stasis builds in PvE, and if you missed out on a good Multimach CCX, there are some decent PvP options, too.

Unending Focus has a myriad of great rolls for PvE, but it’s hard to look past the Subsistence and Headstone combination when using it in a Stasis build. Headstone creates Stasis crystals on precision final blows, which you can shatter for AoE damage, as well as trigger Fragments, like Whisper of Shards, to start regenerating grenade energy.
If you’re not running Whisper of Shards or are running the Prismatic subclass, there’s also Demolitionist to get additional grenade energy on kills. Alternate options in the fourth column include Adrenaline Junkie and Frenzy, but Unending Tempest feels like it was meant for a Stasis grenade-focused build.
In PvP, Unending Tempest comes with Dynamic Sway Reduction and Target Lock. This combination is incredibly potent if you run Peacekeepers on a Titan, but it works on other classes, too, considering the Target Lock nerf has been reverted. With Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Range Masterwork, and Ballistics mod, you can get up to 89 range on this weapon.
There are a couple of other options. If you don’t need Dynamic Sway Reduction, there’s Gutshot Straight to give you more forgiveness when paired with Target Lock. In the fourth column, there’s Tap the Trigger, which synergizes well with Dynamic Sway Reduction.
How to get Unending Tempest in Destiny 2
Unending Tempest is a Crucible weapon that you can focus at Shaxx right now using three Crucible Engrams and five thousand Glimmer. The only caveat is you must play some PvP to earn Crucible Engrams.
Depending on your Prestige level with Shaxx (aka how many times you reset your vendor rank), you can get multiple perks in each column, making it easier to get the roll you want, and potentially even get a two-in-one gun with perks for both PvE and PvP.
