It’s been a fun year of Warzone during Modern Warfare 3, but the seasons are changing and the clock is about to turn on a new Call of Duty.
There’s one more season of MW3 left to go before everything switches over to Black Ops 6, and it’s bringing one of the most popular events in CoD with it: The Haunting has returned with new guns, creepy operators, and limited-time modes galore.
Here’s everything Warzone players can look forward to in season six of MW3.
Warzone season 6 patch notes
MW3’s version of Warzone is here for one last go-round. Season six will take place for a couple of months and lead into Black Ops 6’s season one, which should begin sometime in early December and overhaul the game with omnimovement, a new inventory system, perks, and more.
Weapon changes
Who’s ready for one last meta shift? The season six update brings weapon changes and bug fixes to shake things up again. Check back here on patch day, Sept. 18, to learn more about what guns have been nerfed and buffed in Warzone.
Two new guns
Season six drops two new guns, a marksman rifle and an LMG, which means they’re likely to find some good play time in Warzone. The DTIR 30-06 marksman rifle and Kastov LSW LMG will be the final guns added in MW3, but they’ll stick around in Warzone into BO6 and beyond.
Zombie Royale and Purgatory
The Haunting event ratchets up the spookiness with some variants of two Resurgence maps, Rebirth Island and Vondel. The Rebirth variant is called Hellspawn, while nighttime Vondel returns from previous Haunting festivities.
Zombie Royale returns on these maps, along with a new mode called Purgatory on Hellspawn. Purgatory is a sandbox mode where “quads can battle and complete objectives at their own pace,” and players get infinite respawns to have fun with.
The map includes powerups, portals, and even the multiplayer map Shipment flying above the island “on a drivable platform, accessible via parachute, helicopter, and by portal,” according to Activision.
Ranked Resurgence
A new season of Ranked Resurgence means new rewards, as pictured above, including skins, weapon camos and emblems, a loading screen, and an exclusive weapon blueprint. Ranked Play will be back in Warzone after BO6’s launch.
Spooky new operators
Squads will all get spookier in season six with new operators like Michael Myers, Art the Clown, Sam from Trick ‘r Treat, and even Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead, who joins Rick and Michonne from an earlier MW3 season.
