‘We will get our revenge’

MAD Lions KOI were the first to qualify for the Worlds 2024 Swiss stage, the first time many of these young players will battle the international League of Legends elite. While MAD’s David “Supa” Martínez García is excited to face his favorites, he’s also vying for revenge against North America.

Europe has been taking it on the chin when it comes to its battles against North America in recent times. At Worlds 2023, MAD Lions dropped games to two NA teams while G2 was upset by NRG. This year, Team Liquid put Fnatic to the sword while G2 played a close series against FlyQuest at the EWC. Supa sat on the sidelines for all these games but made it clear he is desperate for a match with North America. “I hope we get FlyQuest or Team Liquid, we will get our revenge. I don’t forget that EU loss to NA,” Supa said to Dot.

To the disappointment of North American fans, they will not get to see their 100 Thieves take on MAD Lions KOI in the play-ins. Providing 100T takes care of business against Hawks, they would face the winner of MDK vs PSG. With MDK winning, 100 Thieves would have to take down PSG Talon for a spot in the Swiss stage. Supa let his opinion know who he wants to see progress. ” I want 100 Thieves to go out. Guys, come on, if we lost today [against PSG], they [100T] will go out. There’s no love lost between Supa and North America.

We asked Supa at the end of the interview to describe the North American teams in one word. Here’s what he had to say:

  • FlyQuest: Crazy
  • Team Liquid: Laneswap
  • 100 Thieves: Fighting

We will have to wait and see if MAD Lions KOI and Supa will get their opportunity to avenge their region when Worlds 2024 Swiss stage kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 3.
