If you want to discover what secrets this special room hides, you need a very particular spell to solve this puzzle. It’s a decently easy one to tackle once you know what needs to be done, so here’s what the button by the Argyllshire map does in Hogwarts Legacy.
What does the Argyllshire map button do in Hogwarts Legacy?
The Argyllshire map button can be activated to open a hidden area in Hogwarts Legacy. You can cast at the button using any spell you like, but only one specific spell will help you with this puzzle.
How to open the Argyllshire map door in Hogwarts Legacy
To activate the Argyllshire map button and open the secret room, use the Depulso spell while standing by it. Make sure you’re within range when casting this spell to ensure it works. You’ll know you’re in range of the button as long as it’s outlined in white.
Using Depulso on the button activates the hidden mechanism to reveal a small hidden room behind the map of Argyllshire. Once you use Depulso to trigger the button, the map reveals itself as a door and slides open to grant you access inside.
The door doesn’t stay open forever, but you can easily open it again at any point by simply approaching it. You don’t need to use Depulso again to gain entry since the button stays pushed forever after you strike it the first time.
How to unlock Depulso in Hogwarts Legacy
You can unlock the Depulso spell you need to open the door behind the map of Argyllshire by completing Professor Sharp’s first assignment. This quest assignment is unlocked after completing Jackdaw’s Rest.
Depulso is essentially the opposite of the Accio spell. It allows you to push objects or enemies away which makes it an important spell to have at your disposal. If you’re having trouble finding it, look for the purple icon with an outstretched hand since it falls within the force spells category.
In addition to being the key spell you need to access this secret room, Depulso is also a key spell for solving many other secrets around the castle. Some of these puzzles include the first Depulso room and the second Depulso room.
What’s inside the Argyllshire map room in Hogwarts Legacy?
The hidden room behind the Argyllshire map has a chest with a random gear loot item inside, a Moth Frame you can lead a moth to, and a scrawled note you can read and add to your collection. You can use Revelio to make sure you find all three items around the room since it’s fairly cluttered. The rewards inside this room aren’t anything super exciting, but it’s an area you need to access if you want to fully explore the entire Hogwarts castle.
