What is the Dead by Daylight 2v8 mode release date?

Dead by Daylight is already intense, but the upcoming 2v8 game mode will turn up the heat—and we’re here to tell you when you can dive into the chaos.

DBD‘s 2v8 game mode sees two Killers facing off against eight Survivors, doubling the number of players in the game. So, if you think watching out for a Ghostface is bad, wait until you have to keep your eyes peeled for two stealth Killers.

Developer Behaviour Interactive has confirmed the dates of the limited-time game mode, so read on for all the details.

DBD 2v8 mode release date

Dead By Daylight‘s 2v8 game mode will run from July 25 to Aug. 8. Remember, this is a limited-time mode, so you can only play it between these dates—unless it’s extended.

Behaviour Interactive revealed the dates on July 3, when the developer shared the DBD roadmap for July 2024 on X (formerly known as Twitter).

What is the DBD 2v8 mode?

Behaviour gave details on the gameplay changes for 2v8 in its DBD 8th anniversary stream on May 14. In the stream, the developer explained that five maps have been made bigger to accommodate the extra players, though which maps these are wasn’t confirmed. It was also revealed that Perks won’t be available for Survivors and will instead be replaced by a “class” system. This class system lets you pick your “power” for the match (in other words, your role), which allows you to specialize in healing, gen repair, looping, or speed, for example.

There are changes for Killers, too. You’ll only be able to pick from one of the five original Dead by Daylight Killers (Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, or Huntress) initially, though more will be available in the future. The developer says this is to make the mode as “accessible as possible” as they’re all free. While Killers won’t use the new class system, a “Team Power” lets them coordinate with their teammate. For example, if a Wraith uses a cloaking ability, a Killer within a certain range of it will also get the cloaking ability.

Another big change for Killers is that they won’t need to hook Survivors in this mode, instead, they can cage them once they’re downed (like Pyramid Head can).

Behaviour says this mode leans more into a “party mode vibe” rather than something competitive and emphasizes this is the first iteration of the mode and that more changes will come in the future.
