When do the Destiny 2 servers go back online? Maintenance details and end time

Destiny 2 servers require some maintenance when patches release, but the servers usually stay down for a longer period of time when it comes to larger releases like seasons and expansions.

Though some titles have maintenance during off-peak hours, Destiny 2 updates usually roll out at reset (5pm UTC, or 11am CT without Daylight Savings Time). Gone are the days when maintenance meant a quick 15-minute break before the update, however: Bungie has steadily been having longer downtime windows and with a bigger frequency, so being ganked by a surprise maintenance period is barely a rare occasion.

This shift affects both downtime for major releases (such as seasons) and general server outages for regular hotfixes. While players knew to expect bigger downtimes for bigger content, even an average Tuesday can pull you out of the game for a few hours.

Here’s what to do when Destiny 2 has a server downtime, so you know when maintenance ends and the servers come back online.

As of Nov. 20, Destiny 2 has a planned downtime window for regular maintenance, as pointed out by its support account on social media. Because of that, Bungie kicked players out of the game starting at 7:45am CT. This follows another server outage on Nov. 19, for the release of Revenant’s Act Two.

If you’re unsure about maintenance windows, you can check Destiny 2‘s server status through official accounts or by using the fanmade bungiehelp.org.

When do the Destiny 2 servers come back online?

Maintenance generally ends at reset, and the Nov. 20 maintenance window is no exception. The servers are scheduled to come back at 11am CT, just as reset kicks off. Other issues may push this time window further, however.

If it’s a major update, brace for the “One moment please…” message that’s typical of bigger releases, which indicates there are too many players attempting to log in at the same time.
