Despite The War Within not even being close to finished yet, World of Warcraft players are already getting lost in their daydreams about one upcoming feature in Midnight—player housing.
With the official reveal trailer hitting on Nov. 13, 2024, the long-awaited feature has been getting people excited for the next expansion. Players have been demanding this feature for years now, so seeing it revealed by Blizzard was monumental for everyone from raiders to role-players.
Further details about player housing were revealed in an official news post, highlighting that the Alliance zone would be a blend of Elwynn Forest, Westfall, and Duskwood, while the Horde zone would mix Durotar and its coastline with Azshara.
While the news post did note that there would possibly be more places to live in the future, the player housing mechanic is set to drop with these two zones to pick from at first.
The topic of where players would love their characters to live popped up in a fan discussion, with some WoW players hoping to find a sweet, cozy cottage for their characters and others demanding physics-defying homes underwater, inside recently-exploded cities, or on top of monuments.
A player shared a scenic snap of their dream player housing spot, inspiring others to chime in with their dream location.
Many opted for Dalaran or Dalaran-adjacent homes in this fantasy, with one person saying they’d love an upper-spire apartment in the fan-favorite floating city, taking mage portals back and forth to visit their loved ones.
Others shared how much they’d love to settle down in Pandaria. Despite the expansion being somewhat divisive in terms of lore and fluffy playable characters, it’s hard to deny how beautiful the overall aesthetic was. Jade Forest and Valley of the Four Winds were the most popular zones here.
Some players clearly had a love for the darker, creepier zones in WoW, sharing that they’d prefer to live somewhere with more of an ominous feeling. One player wistfully noted, “Somewhere in Tirisfal, Silverpine, or Gilneas…or Duskwood…or Drustvar… I want [a] spooky forest house.”
Another took this even further, demanding an Icecrown Citadel player housing option to suit the Death Knights in the community.
Amid the seemingly possible options, some players were set on more drastic location choices, like the underwater zone of Vashj’ir. One player insisted that they needed Vashj’ir to be an option here so that they could “Be like SpongeBob.”
While underwater housing likely won’t be one of the first options to arrive in the game, it is Azeroth, after all. Who knows? Further player housing options are purely speculation at this point, with the singular Alliance and Horde zones being the only confirmed options.
Player housing is set to release with the WoW Midnight expansion. Dates are currently unknown for this, so the best bet to keep tabs on when you can start decorating your Elwynn Forest cottage is to keep up to date with official WoW social media pages.
