When it comes to getting Mega Pokémon in Pokémon Go, it all comes down to Mega Energy. It’s a critical resource you can only get occasionally, especially if you’re trying to get the more powerful choices, such as Mega Rayquaza.
Mega Rayquaza Energy doesn’t come around often, and anyone who wants to add Mega Rayquaza to their lineup has to jump through several hoops to unlock it. Even after you Mega Evolve your Rayquaze once, you’ll still be hunting for more Mega Rayquaza Energy. Here’s what you need to know about how to get Mega Rayquaza Energy in Pokémon Go.
Where to get Mega Rayquaza Energy in Pokémon Go
It all comes down to beating Mega Rayquaza in Mega Raids or Elite Raids. Normally, Mega Rayquaza was an Elite Raid in Pokémon Go, but there have been instances where Niantic has released it as a Mega Raid, where players could use Remote Raid Passes to invite others from around the world to take it on. Regardless of how you do it, beating Mega Rayquaza in these raids is the only way to get it.
After defeating Mega Rayquaza, all raid participants earn rewards based on how quickly they complete it. Those who use stronger Pokémon, focusing on Mega Rayquaza’s weaknesses and the best counters, can do it faster. Everyone in the raid earns the same amount of Mega Rayquaza Energy.
Alternatively, Pokémon Go players might be able to earn Mega Rayquaza Energy from Special Tickets or events provided by Niantic. We don’t know if or when these become available, but this could be the other way you receive Mega Rayquaza Energy raids. These are much more rare than the raids themselves, as Niantic usually encourages players to work together to complete these difficult challenges.
The best way to get Mega Rayquaza Energy right now is during the makeup event from Aug. 3 to 4 in Pokémon Go. The Timed Research for this event also rewards a Meteorite, the other item you need to evolve your Rayquaza into a Mega Rayquaza.
