Here’s why Fortnite servers are not responding during Fall Guys (v30.40) update

An unexpected blow may have greeted Fortnite players hoping to rack up some Ws today, as the servers are not responding on Aug. 6. There’s nothing to worry about though, as we can explain what’s happening.

Fortnite receives regular maintenance to prepare for fresh updates in the game, including new collaborations and events, but it can still be a surprise to see the servers unavailable.

Fear not though, as the wait will be worth it. We’ve got all the details you need here.

The Fortnite servers are currently down because Epic Games is rolling out the v30.40 update into the game, which brings the full introduction of Fall Guys into the title. There are also some big additions in other game modes.

Though Fall Guys assets were added to Fortnite in a previous update, it was merely the tip of the iceberg as a teaser shared on the official Fortnite X page (formerly Twitter) hinted that there will be new additions to the Battle Royale mode.

Full details of what’s included as part of the Fall Guys collaboration will be revealed when the blog post highlighting the changes goes live—but we already know what’s coming to LEGO Fortnite in this update.

Patch notes for LEGO Fortnite have already been published, with the stand-out additions being fast travel mechanics, the ability to change the settings of existing worlds, and new vehicles.

When will the Fortnite servers be back up?

We don’t know exactly when the Fortnite servers will be back up but we can make an educated guess based on the standard practice for updates of this size.

Downtime for mid-season patches usually lasts at least four hours, though it can sometimes be longer. At the very earliest, the Fortnite servers will be back up at 4am PT/6am CT/7am ET/12pm BST/9pm AEST.

As mentioned, however, this is merely a guess based on the earliest that the Fortnite servers are expected to be back and it could be a couple more hours after the times mentioned above that you can dive back into the game.

In rare cases, downtime lasts much longer due to issues rolling out the update. The best place to keep up to date with any issues is social media, either by following official Fortnite accounts or keeping an eye out for players saying the servers are back.
