The Minigun sneakily made its way to Fortnite after the game’s highly anticipated Fall Guys collaboration came in the Aug. 6 update. Epic Games unvaulted the weapon to spice up the last few days on the Wasteland.
With the recent v30.40 update, one of the oldest Fortnite weapons is back in action, and players are using it to its full potential. The menacing gun uses light ammo to obliterate enemies and buildings, and it has a massive clip that’s enough to take down anybody who stands in your way. The weapon was teased previously this season, but didn’t made its way to the island until now.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Minigun in Fortnite.
Where to find the Minigun in Fortnite
The Minigun can only be found in chests and ground loot. Unlike a few weapons in Fortnite, you cannot buy it from an NPC character, and that leaves you at the mercy of the RNG gods to find the weapon. However, you can increase your odds of finding the gun by dropping at major points of interest like Pleasant Piazza or Reckless Railways, where there are a lot of chests you can open.
We found three Miniguns lying around in Pleasant Piazza, and needless to say, they haven’t become the community favorite, so it should be easy to locate them as long you search enough chests. Make sure to stock up on light ammo, as the weapon’s huge clip burns through your ammunition. You can only hold 500 light ammo at a time. If you’re running low, some vending machines sell light ammo in exchange for some gold to always keep you filled to the brim.
How to use a Minigun in Fortnite
To unleash the wraith of the Minigun in Fortnite, you need to use it circumstantially. You cannot always hold down the trigger and go blind in any gunfight, as that’ll leave you vulnerable. To use it efficiently, make sure to use it only in medium-range fights where you and the enemy have a little gap. In the long-range fights, it’ll be very inaccurate, and a shotgun will easily beat your damage output in close range, so it’s only a good option in medium-range fights.
Take advantage of its large clip and spray at your enemy with the Minigun. If you can wiggle your way and dodge your enemy’s first few shots, the Minigun should definitely abuse its reload time to eliminate them quickly. However, the best way to use the Minigun is in Build mode, where you can use its big clip to stop enemies from healing in the end game.
You can also use its oppressive power to break the base of a high-rise build and get easy kills as enemies fall to their death in no time.
