‘Trouble in paradise’: Pokimane dealing with legal issues as her inner circle fractures

Pokimane has been forced to make changes to her business team in recent weeks after the streaming superstar faced “legal issues” that basically boiled down to several men in her inner circle locking horns over decisions on the future.

Things have been “shifting” in her team for the last few months, Pokimane told her streaming fans this week. While she doesn’t expect it to change too much on the front-facing side—and she’s a little hamstrung in what she can share because of the “legal” stuff—the star streamer said she wanted to keep everybody in the loop.

“Something happened recently,” the top YouTube entertainer said in her latest August vlog (as first shared by Dexerto). “I can’t give you guys too many details, legally [but] it resulted in… my agent, my manager, and my lawyer all kind of pointing fingers at each other, and me in the middle watching these grown men point fingers at each other.”

The loggerheads, which Pokimane described as “trouble in paradise,” resulted in the stream-queen having to make some sweeping changes to her personality-led business.

There’s been clear indication how these structural changes will effect Pokimane’s streaming enterprise moving forward; the 28-year-old streamer has barely broadcast on Twitch or YouTube in the last 24 months, so this recent drama has made little impact there. Earlier this year she all-but walked away from Twitch too, though it’s likely that personal decision also came before everything in these last few weeks.

Said Pokimane, “I’m still trying to see things through and give everyone a chance… who do I want to work with super long-term, who do I not want to work with.”

As mentioned, Pokimane has been largely absent from the streaming space recently and has instead dedicated herself to building her lifestyle brand on YouTube. She regularly posts house tours, makeup tutorials, apartment videos, and general life updates on her YouTube channel where she boasts 6.6 million subscribers.

Conversely, she’s barely livestreamed on the Google-owned site (just twice in six months) and despite holding a nine-million strong following on Twitch has only been running live broadcasts there several times a month. Most have been VALORANT or Just Chatting videos.

Earlier this year, Pokimane was also forced to terminate another of her employees when she discovered he “wouldn’t stop touching himself” while working.
