As the initial hype for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail dies down, a hotfix for the recently released Patch 7.05 is here to clean up some of the extra anti-congestion methods implemented at launch, as well as a few of the nastier FFXIV bugs.
Server congestion was the biggest issue looming over Dawntrail’s major launch, with tons of mitigation measures put in place as soon as the FFXIV expansion went into early access. Now that everyone’s had time to blitz through the new MSQ, it looks like those early restrictions are being eased up, starting with the latest hotfix.
FFXIV: Dawntrail Patch 7.05 hotfix notes
The biggest item on the FFXIV Dawntrail hotfix notes was the removal of the Shadow Data Center, the European probationary “overflow” DC that was introduced to help with FFXIV’s server populations. Any characters on Shadow at the time of maintenance have been automatically returned to their home worlds.
Extra instances of Tuliyollal and Solution Nine have also been removed. The extra instances of the other Dawntrail areas are still in place, and will likely be phased out over the next few patches.
Players can also say goodbye to the strict 30-minute AFK kick timer for now, though we’ll be seeing it again for the FFXIV 8.0 launch. The process that blocked players from logging into new Worlds that were at maximum capacity has also been removed.
The hotfix also covered a few bugs that came with Patch 7.05, including but not limited to:
- Sound effect and mechanics bugs in M2S, M4, and M4S of the AAC Light-heavyweight Arcadion raid series.
- Tooltip text errors for Warrior’s Damnation ability and Dragoon’s Melee Mastery trait.
- A bug where blacklisted characters could still join the blacklister’s Party Finder group.
Overall, most of the now-shipped FFXIV Dawntrail bugfixes seem to have been cosmetic or text-related. You can check out the full hotfix notes for more details.
