Niantic has announced a new Pokémon Go event called Wild Area. It’s set to be the third-biggest event of the year, following Go Tour and Go Fest. Not much is known at the time of writing, because information is slowly being released over time—but we’ve compiled all the available information in this article.
Everything we know about Pokémon Go Wild Area 2024
Pokémon Go Wild Area is a new event that appears to be the same size as Go Tour and Go Fest, two of the year’s biggest events.
The 2024 version will have a live event in Fukuoka, Japan, from Nov. 16 to 17. There’s also a Global event that anyone can take part in the weekend after, from Nov. 23 to 24. The event, like Go Tour and Go Fest, is ticketed, so trainers must pay to participate.
Tickers for both aren’t currently available, but we imagine they’ll go live at some point in the new season.
The name Wild Area is also a big hint at what the event could be about. The Wild Area is the name of the large biome in Pokémon Sword and Shield where Pokémon roam and raids are conducted. If we had to guess, we imagine Wild Area is the place where Gigantmax will debut after being teased with the latest trailer at Worlds on Aug 18, 2024.
It feels like the perfect place to feature something like Eternatus and reveal more Galar Pokémon. We think Niantic might use this event to debut more new shiny Pokémon, with the live in-person event having increased shiny odds, similar to in-person Go Fest and Go Tour events held throughout the year.
Realistically, though, this is all speculation, and we need to wait for Niantic to reveal more details about what will happen in the future. Stay tuned for more.
