Tilted Pokémon players are not having it with the Incineroar Tera Raids in Scarlet and Violet

Seven-star Tera Raids are supposed to be fun and challenging in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but players are not having a good time in the ongoing Incineroar Tera Raid event—and tilt is setting in.

When the Unrivaled Incineroar Tera Raid event was first announced, Pokémon players were mildly concerned that this would be a tough one to beat. After all, Incineroar is known as one of the most dominant forces in VGC history as a fantastic utility ‘mon. Sure enough, this cat is also an absolute monster in this difficult seven-star Tera Raid.

In a Sept. 6 Reddit thread, players discussed what made this the “worst experience” in Scarlet and Violet Tera Raids. Compared to previous seven-star raid events, Unrivaled Incineroar feels especially difficult with how quickly things can get out of hand. The cat opens up the raid with multiple stat-lowering effects, putting you and your allies at an immediate disadvantage. Then it boosts its own stats, and before you know it, it’s one-shotting your Pokémon. It took me multiple attempts with different Pokémon before I finally found a solid build and counter for Incineroar.

The raid’s difficulty isn’t necessarily a bad thing on its own, but it can get a little tilting when paired with other factors. One of the most annoying parts about this raid by far was the opening sequence where Incineroar’s Intimidate ability would lower everyone’s Attack stat one by one, followed by a Snarl that would lower everyone’s Special Attack in the same tedious manner.

As if that wasn’t enough, the cat will then Taunt one unlucky Pokémon before you’re finally able to make your first move—imagine having to rewatch that long sequence every time you restart the raid! Players commented on how it was “torture” and “wastes a ton of time.”

In another thread, other players had beef with people bringing Koraidon as a counter for group raids. As a Fighting/Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon, Koraidon may seem like the perfect counter for Incineroar at first glance, but it can negatively affect other players in group raids. The Paradox Legendary automatically sets up the sun with its Orichalcum Pulse ability, powering up Incineroar’s Flare Blitz in the process.

So, don’t bring a sun-setter like Koraidon to group raids unless you want to make it even more difficult than it needs to be!
