How to deal with Bowtie in R.E.P.O.

The Bowtie may look like a loveable cloud of marshmallows, but taking a bite out of this big guy will get you a first class seat to the Disposal Arena in R.E.P.O.

Here is everything you need to know about the Bowtie in R.E.P.O. and how to deal with him.

The Bowtie is a mixture of the Upscream and Trudge, being a relatively lethal entity that can easily ruin your round. Much like any A-Lister, the Bowtie isn’t a fan of unwanted attention. He will push you away like you work for TMZ, screaming at you, which launches your character backwards. This brutal attack disrupts your play, similarly to the Animal’s erratic movements and the Upscream’s overhead throw.

This monster is incredibly slow until he completes his main attack. All he does is scream at you when he sees you; recoiling his head into his body, transforming his chest into a giant mouth that blows air at you (much like the story of The Three Little Pigs). This will disarm you, dropping whatever you were holding, and sending you in the opposite direction of where the Bowtie stands. He can only scream in one direction and will hold this for a varying amount of time (depending on whether he has you in his grasp). This can deal up to 55 damage.

The Bowtie can cause chaos by pushing you into other monsters or environmental hazards. His threat level increases the further you go, and each level increases, adding complexity to the map’s level design, where death pits and acid pools await your arrival. The Bowtie will run away when he stops screaming, doing a mad dash to escape the room you’re currently in. This can hurt you if you get caught in his path. He will resume his slow walk cycle, oblivious to your existence until you make yourself known again.

The Bowtie is incredibly easy to avoid if you’re high alert at all times. There’s no real reason to worry if you’re in the same room as him, but you should refrain from getting close. Check the room after opening a closed door before you walk through it, that way you can see if the Bowtie or other monsters are inside. This will give you time to hide behind cover in case he starts screaming. You don’t need to sneak around this entity unless you’re desperate to get past him. It’s best to stay behind Bowtie at all times, and to not encroach within a one-meter distance of his position. This lets you walk and run if you need to, in case another threat is fast approaching your rear.

Can you kill Bowtie?

The Bowtie has a surprisingly low health pool. You can easily kill him with the Gun, or use a melee weapon. We highly recommend stunning him before you try to kill him with something like the Baseball Bat or Frying Pan, otherwise he will use his attack to send you away. You will drop whatever you were carrying, setting you backwards, and making you vulnerable to another monster that may be nearby.

You can use the Gun face-to-face against the Bowtie so long as you’re quick and accurate enough. This shouldn’t take more than two bullets to kill. Alternatively, use a Tranq Gun or Stun Grenade to bring this big brute down, to then whack him up to three times, giving you a $4,000 life orb to pick up and bring back to the extraction point.
