Alongside new activities, season one of The First Descendant introduced a new battle pass with a featured Ultimate weapon—Excava.
Excava comes with a Unique Ability called Voltage Accel Energy Grenade Launcher. Hitting an enemy grants Voltage Stacks, and at the maximum of 36 stacks, you get an Energy grenade. Energy Grenades grant a stacking Firearm Critical Hit Rate (up to three stacks), and you can shoot down your sights to fire the grenades.
The Unique Ability makes the weapon confusing to build, so here’s the best Excava build in The First Descendant.
Best Modules for Excava in The First Descendant
At the time of writing, it’s not worth building Firearm Critical Hit Rate on Excava. The Energy Grenade grants bonus Firearm Critical Hit Rate, but it’s still not enough to consistently land crits. This may change as we complete the season one battle pass and fully upgrade the Unique Ability.
In the meantime, prioritize Firearm ATK and Electric ATK, because Energy Grenades reduce Electric Resistance. You can build some Critical Hit if you have capacity, but don’t expect immediate results and lots of crits.
Here are the recommended Modules for Excava:
Module | Effect |
---|---|
Action and Reaction | Increases Firearm ATK |
Rifling Reinforcement | Increases Firearm ATK |
Electric Enhancement | Increases Electric ATK based on Firearm ATK |
Electric Priority | Increases Electric ATK but reduces Reload Speed Modifier |
Expand Weapon Charge | Increases Rounds per Magazine |
Weapon Tuning | Increases Rounds per Magazine and Firearm ATK |
Fire Rate UP | Increases Fire Rate |
Recycling Genius | Increases Reload Time Modifier |
Reload Expert | Increases Reload Time Modifier and Firearm ATK |
You might want to get some Hip Fire Accuracy, Reload Time Modifier, or Rounds per Magazine Modules, too. The base mag has 36 rounds, requiring you to land all your shots to get the Energy Grenade at the base Unique Ability level or risk losing stacks by reloading.
Best stats for Excava in The First Descendant
Stats on Excava follow the same logic. Since you don’t need Firearm Critical Hit or Weak Point Damage, aim to get as much raw DPS as possible through Firearm ATK, Electric ATK, Rounds per Magazine, and Fire Rate.
Here are the recommended stats for Excava:
- Firearm ATK
- Electric ATK
- Rounds per Magazine,
- Fire Rate
- Hip Fire Accuracy
- Bonus Firearm ATK (vs. Colossus)
As always, Bonus Firearm ATK (vs. Colossus) is useful if you want to make Excava your go-to weapon for Void Intercept Battles.
