From Titanfall 3 to Lord of the Rings Online 2, gamers debate what games they need to get them out of gaming fatigue

As the years go by, seasoned veterans of the gaming world are slowly drifting into so-called “gaming fatigue,” where they have no clue what to play next. Thankfully, discussions on the topic aren’t that rare, and players in one thread on Reddit think they’ve got the solutions.

A Reddit user posted a question on the r/gaming subreddit on Aug. 7, asking folks for help regarding their current “dream game” and expressing how “nothing gets [them] excited.” Thus, they asked around to see what folks would play if they could, whether it be a sequel or something entirely new, pitching in the example of a “completely new IP” with lots of exploration akin to the new Zelda games.

One user said they’d love to see a game similar to The Sims, but with “better AI and crime.” They described lots of sandbox-y gameplay we’ve come to know from the GTA series: “Let me assault a man in the produce aisle for taking the last watermelon, then let me fight the cops in the parking lot as my wife and two children watch.” Depending on where Rockstar takes its next crime-infested title, we might just see something like this materialize.

Another expressed how their dream game has always been a video game adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series of novels. “They all lend themselves to the genre so well,” they wrote, and given how the books combine several genres from dark fantasy to western to sci-fi, a game set in the universe could potentially spawn a full franchise with direct adaptations and spin-offs.

Titles such as a third Titanfall game, or a sequel to the fabled LOTR Online also crop up as potential solutions to the gaming fatigue troubles.

But let’s be real, it’s all fun and games to dream about the best title possible, which would pull you back into the world of video games once again and make you feel like you did all those years ago. However, what else would do that better, especially if you were around in the early 2000s, than Half-Life 3? After all, recent rumors have been circulating that something of the sort is in development at Valve, and I’m giving all my hope that they come to be true. Gaming would be at its peak once again.
