A new Pokémon Go season is here, and the Galar region is taking center stage, with its three starters debuting in the game. If you want a Sobble or need to know whether it can be Shiny, we have the answers you need.
Sobble is the water starter from Galar, and it has been a long five-year wait for its debut in Pokémon Go. Though it is far from a stand-out in the trio alongside Grookey and Scorbunny, it has its strengths.
For everything you need to know about Sobble in the Max Out season, we’ve got you covered.
How to catch Sobble in Pokémon Go
Sobble is a wild spawn in Pokémon Go, so you can find it while you explore the real world. To boost your spawn chances, you can use Incense, but Sobble should be a fairly common spawn—especially in large towns and cities.
A choice of Galar starters is also available in the new Special Research story in the Max Out season. If you select Sobble, expect to encounter Sobble when completing Field Research Tasks.
Sobble can also hatch from 5km eggs during the Max Out season, so there are plenty of ways to encounter this Pokémon and add it to your Pokédex.
Can Sobble be Shiny in Pokémon Go?
No, Sobble cannot be Shiny in Pokémon Go. Although disappointing, this is standard practice when new Pokémon are introduced to Pokémon Go—and we’ll likely be waiting a while longer until shiny Sobble is available.
Alola starters were introduced to Pokémon Go in March 2022, but their Shiny variants only arrived this year, with the drop for each of the starters spread out across several months. If the same pace continues, we might be well into Gen 10 before Galar starters get Shinies in Pokémon Go.
How to evolve Sobble in Pokémon Go
There is no change to Sobble’s evolution method in Pokémon Go from other starters, with the only requirement being Sobble Candy. To earn more, catch more Sobbles, but you may also get additional Sobble Candy for completing Field Research tasks.
Sobble has two evolution stages: The first is Drizzile, and the final form is Inteleon, the Secret Agent Pokémon. The requirements for each evolution stage are below:
- Sobble to Drizzile: 25 Sobble Candy
- Drizzile to Inteleon: 100 Sobble Candy
If you’re short on the Sobble Candies you need for evolution, equip Sobble as your Partner Pokémon to earn extra Candies while walking. This may take a while, though, so the best approach is to use a Pinap Berry when attempting to catch Sobble, as it doubles the amount of Sobble Candy received if you successfully catch it.
