If you want to work your way through the entire Cursed Sails pass in the Pirates of the Caribbean Fortnite event, you have to tackle quite a few pirate-themed quests. One of these tasks asks you to damage opponents or travel distance with Cannons.
There are multiple ways to finish this quest and finding Cannons can be tough if you don’t know where to look, which means you may need some guidance with this one. Here’s how to damage opponents or travel distance with Cannons in Fortnite.
Damage opponents or travel distance with Cannons in Fortnite, explained
To complete the damage opponents or travel distance with Cannons in Fortnite quest, you either need to travel 500 meters after being shot out of a Pirate Cannon or deal 500 damage against opponents using a Pirate Cannon. Depending on which method you want to use, the way you use a Cannon is slightly different.
- If you want to damage opponents to deal 500 damage with a Cannon, approach one and select the steer Cannon option. You can then move it around as desired and shoot it at any opponent you manage to find.
- If you want to travel 500 meters distance with a Cannon, approach one and select the enter Cannon option. You can then adjust the exact angle of the Cannon to determine how far you go. Five hundred distance is quite a lot, so try to aim as high and far as you can.
Regardless of which method you prefer, the first step is to find a Cannon you can use. Cannons can only be found at the two Pirates of the Caribbean locations on the map, including Shipwreck Shallows right in the center of the island and the other ship you can visit located just south of Grand Glacier.
At either location, you can find Cannons on and in the pirate ships. Some of them are on the main deck but there are also quite a few on the lower levels, which means it can be helpful to destroy the structure with a Ship in a Bottle to make finding them easier.
Unless there are lots of opponents hanging around to damage, it’s generally just easier to travel the 500 distance for this quest. Cannons are pretty tricky to move around and aim, so jumping in and soaring through the sky a few times gets the task done a lot quicker and easier overall.
I chose to try and travel 500 distance using a Cannon and it took me three tries to get it done. You can definitely get it done quicker if you manage to aim the Cannon correctly since I was able to travel over 250 meters the first time by aiming it up high.
Earning enough Cursed Gold to get the Jack’s Ship Glider is a huge undertaking, but with this quest out of the way, you’re one step closer. Some other tasks you can work through to progress even further are destroying Slurp, Slap, or Nitro Barrels and listening to Pirate Tales.
