The Boss Obsidian skin can only be obtained by purchasing it from the item shop in Fortnite for V-Bucks. However, this skin isn’t available just yet—it’s expected to arrive in the shop very soon, based on a now-deleted announcement shared by Epic Games.

Epic Games accidentally announced this skin in an X (formerly Twitter) post on July 28, but later deleted the announcement since the skin wasn’t meant to be revealed just yet. “Take the journey into the altitude as Boss Obsidian,” the original post read. “Just ignoring you-know-who at this point so check out this new Outfit in the shop.”

This announcement featured art of the Boss Obsidian skin with Deadpool’s signature doodles all over it, who is the “you-know-who” the post was referring to. Deadpool’s antics seem to have gone too far this time, since the Boss Obsidian skin wasn’t available in the shop when this post was shared and Epic Games later took the announcement down. The original post was then followed up with another one mentioning the skin will be available in the shop “soon.”

The exact release date for the Boss Obsidian skin is currently unknown, but it’s likely this skin will arrive within the next few shop rotations. We don’t know how much it will cost yet either, but you can probably expect it to be somewhere around 1,500 V-Bucks, which is the average price of most skins.

If you’re looking for additional unique skins worth grabbing, there are five Pirates of the Caribbean skins available. To earn two of them, you have to work through many different Cursed Sails tasks for Cursed Gold, including quests like destroying the nine false pieces of eight, speaking to a character before taking damage, and destroying Slurp, Slap, or Nitro Barrels. There are all kinds of unique rewards in this event, so it’s definitely worth tackling if you want some special crossover items.
